> Saint André church <
Saint-André church dates back to 1876, the work of departmental architect Alfred Dauvergne, who gave the building the look of a 13th-century Gothic cathedral. Some of its furnishings are original, and in 2011 it recovered a tapestry commissioned by the Archbishop of Bourges for the 1876 inauguration, since lost and mistakenly attributed to the Arras tapestry. The stained glass windows are by the Lobin workshop in Tours, except for the choir windows, which were rebuilt after the station was bombed in 1944. 2 remarkable paintings recently restored: "The Marriage of the Virgin" and "Rest during the Flight into Egypt" by Bernard Joseph Wampe (1689-1744). Donated by General Bertrand, an acquaintance of Napoleon I. The strange words "République française" (French Republic) on the main porch recall the separation of Church and State in 1905.

> From cobblestones to paving stones <
A paving stone is a block of stone or concrete used as a road surface. Nowadays, they are mainly used for pedestrian walkways or seldom-used paths, in historic areas or for short stretches of road.
1. Paving in "Contrasting" joints: The principle of paving in "contrasting" joints is to lay each paver in one direction, then in the other. This standard can divide the colors by the same percentage, for example 25% gray, 25% yellow, 25% black and 25% pink.
2. Arched paving: This type of paving is also known as semi-circular paving, curved paving or rounded paving. It is interesting to note that there is often some confusion about the standards of "shell" and "arch".
3. Diagonal paving: Diagonal paving is an alternative to straight paving. The technique remains the same for both types of laying; the difference concerns planning and layout. Diagonal paving is laid from the center of one corner of the work.
4. Straight" regular pavers: Laying pavers in a straight line gives them a contemporary, clean look. Pavers should be laid using a stretched line (nylon or plastic alignment wire) to facilitate precise alignment and levelling.

> The 2 types of paving stones in ChĂąteauroux <
Sandstone is a sedimentary rock resulting from more or less solid cementation between grains of sand, or more specifically silica in the case of Fontainebleau sandstone. Fontainebleau sandstones were formed from siliceous Fontainebleau sands. These sands were deposited during the Sables d'Ătampes sea episode. They are therefore Stampian (Oligocene) in age. The sand was then transformed into rock by the consolidation of grains with a natural cement produced by the evaporation of water passing through these desert sands.
Granite is a hard, grainy rock of any petrographic nature, mainly composed of quartz, mica and feldspar. In the world of building materials, granite has a granular appearance (which distinguishes it from marble), and comes in a hard, highly wear-resistant form. Granite can be obtained in particular from granite, a crystalline rock of the magmatic plutonic type whose essential minerals making up at least 90% of the rock are quartz and feldspar.
