20 Years on the Trails
The year was 2001 - this is when I had first heard about geocaching on a tech show that was based out of Seattle. After looking it up, I found that there was nothing here in San Antonio, much less Texas. Three years later, I rediscovered it.
On July 31st, 2004, my husband at the time, and I created our account, and off we went to find our first cache. That cache was GCHB8B - La Vista del Noroeste. It was located on the campus of Northwest Vista College in San Antonio off of Westover Hills/151/1604 not far from SeaWorld. We then found one more cache that day, and then on August 1st, we found six more caches. I had the caching bug.
Now, 20 years later, I am still caching. My cache count isn’t very high, but I will say what has mattered most to me has been all the people that we have met along the way. This would be about right as my favorite cache type are events.
I am hosting this event in celebration of the 20 years of being out on trails to search for that next cache/event. We will be at Rudy’s BBQ at 6 pm here in New Braunfels, and would love to have both new (as I like to say, you are only new up to the point that I meet you) and old friends join us.
