Welcome to Kirrawee, a small suburb which is now becoming a suburb packed with tall buildings and unfortunately not much in the way of historical structures. Accept for Kirrawee train station! Let's run through some historical moments of Kirrawee train station. Kirrawee station officially opened on 16th December 1939, when the Sutherland to Cronulla and Cronulla to Sutherland lines opened as well. During 1954 there was a holdup as a man had stolen £43! Kirrawee station was later rebuilt as part of duplicating the single track into a 2 track line. This was under the Rail Clearways Program. Work started to commence in 2007, and was completed during 2010. The platform used to extend to the other side of the Kirrawee Oak Road overbridge but was also straightened by extending the platform to the east. Not too much has happened here, but if you ever see some old photos of this station, even though it may not look much different, many things have changed!
Enjoy looking for the cache and we hope you enjoyed the history!
