Omišalj je gradić smješten na sjeverozapadnom dijelu otoka Krka. Smješten je na 85 metara visokoj litici što mu daje posebnu draž, te je uz grad Krk najstarije živo naselje na otoku.

Prolazeći uskim uličicama, upoznajete se s utvrđenim gradom na čiji su razvoj utjecali Iliri, Rimljani, Mlečani, Habsburzi... Stejdževi ovog multija pokazat će vam glavne znamenitosti i ostavštinu Omišlja (od srednjeg vijeka do dvadesetog stoljeća), a preporučuje se da ih obiđete zadanim redoslijedom.


Omišalj is a small town located in the northwestern part of Krk. It is situated on an 85-meter high cliff, giving it a unique charm. Along with the town of Krk, it is the oldest continuously inhabited settlement on the island.

As you walk through the narrow streets, you will get to know a fortified town which was significantly influenced by Illyrians, Romans, Venetians and Austrians. The stages of this multi-cache will show you the main attractions and heritage of Omišalj (ranging from the Middle Ages to 20th century), and it is recommended to visit them in the specified order.




[HR] [1.] Prvi stejdž vas vodi na trg ispred zgrade općine, koja je u razdoblju pred Prvi svjetski rat izgrađena nad ruševinama frankapanskog kaštela. Osim vijećnice, u ovoj se zgradi nalazi i lokalna knjižnica. Na trgu ćete pronaći i staru krunu cisterne, odnosno bunara. Krune su bile neizostavni element brojnih venecijanskih trgova, kao i drugih gradova pod mletačkom upravom.

[EN] [1.] The first stage leads you to the square in front of the municipal building, which was constructed in the pre-WWI period on the remains of the Frankopan castle. Besides the town hall, this building also houses the local library. In the square, you can also find an old wellhead („cistern crown“). „Cistern crowns“ were an essential element of many Venetian squares, as well as other towns under Venetian rule.

[HR] [2.] Placa je stoljećima predstavljala središte naselja, a obrubljena je brojnim lijepim starim kućama. Osim toga, Placa je dom crkvici svete Jelene koja je izgrađena u 14., a obnovljena u 15. stoljeću. Zidana je pravilno uslojenim klesancima, a pročelje joj je proviđeno gotičkim portalom šiljastoga luka i prozorčićem u obliku križa. U blizini crkvice nalazi se i impozantni renesansni zvonik izgrađen 1536. godine, o čemu svjedoči glagoljski natpis iznad ulaznih vrata.

Prvo obratite pažnju na crkvicu svete Jelene. Kako bi nastao prozor u obliku križa, nekoliko je redova kamena izgubilo svoje „savršene zube“, odnosno u njima su se stvorile rupe. Koliko je takvih „krezubih“ redova prouzrokovao križ? Broj takvih redova = B.

Nakon toga, fokusirajte se na renesansni zvonik. Broj „uvijenih“ stupića na krovnom dijelu zvonika = C.

[EN] [2.] For centuries, the Placa has been the center of the settlement, and it is surrounded by numerous beautiful old houses. In addition, the Placa is home to the Church of St. Helen, which was built in the 14th century and renovated in the 15th century. It is built of regularly coursed stone blocks, and its front exterior has a Gothic pointed arch portal and a cross-shaped window. Near the church is also an imposing Renaissance bell tower built in 1536, as evidenced by the Glagolitic inscription above the entrance door.

First, take a look at the Church of St. Helen. In order for a cross-shaped window to be created, several rows of stones had to lose their "perfect teeth" - that is, holes were created in those rows. How many such "toothless" rows did the cross-shaped window create? Number of such rows = B.

Now, look at the renaissance bell tower. Number of "twisted" columns on the roof part of the tower = C.

Note: B and C are different buildings! For C, count only on the side of the tower which has a clock on it.




[HR] [3.] Crkva Uznesenja Blažene Djevice Marije nastala je u prijelazu 12. na 13. stoljeće, i to u stilu romanike. Tijekom stoljeća je doživjela nekoliko adaptacija, kao što je primjerice kupola iz 17. stoljeća. Pročelje crkve krasi rozeta - okrugli, reljefno ukrašeni kameni prozor s glagoljičnim natpisom iz 1405. godine. U blizini crkve nalazi se i Smitir, zanimljiv primjer srednjovjekovnog groblja.

[EN] [3.] The Church of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary dates back to the 12th-13th century, and is built in the Romanesque style. Over the centuries, it has undergone several adaptations, such as the addition of a dome in the 17th century. The front exterior of the church features a relief-decorated rose window, as well as a Glagolitic inscription from 1405. Near the church you can also find „Smitir“, an interesting example of a medieval cemetery.

[HR] [4.] Vidikovac Vele steni nalazi se u rubnom predjelu grada kojeg krasi arhitektura s tragovima iz srednjeg vijeka, renesanse i baroka. Radi se o mjestu s veličanstvenim pogledom na otok Krk, velik dio Kvarnerskog zaljeva i Omišaljski zaljev. S ove se lokacije također može vidjeti prelijepa zgrada bivšeg Hotela Učka. Hotel je sagrađen 1928. godine na lokaciji uz samo more, no već desetljećima je zbog spleta čudnih okolnosti zatvoren i devastiran. Veseli činjenica što je zgrada 2023. godine dobila novog vlasnika, koji je ubrzo započeo i s obnovom iste.

[EN] [4.] The Vele Steni viewpoint sits on the outskirts of the town, where buildings showcase architectural traces of the Middle Ages, Renaissance, and Baroque periods. It is a spot offering a magnificent view of the island of Krk, a large part of the Kvarner Bay, and the Omišalj Bay. From this location, one can also admire the beautiful building of the former Hotel Učka. The hotel was built in 1928 right on the seashore, but due to a series of strange circumstances, it has been closed and devastated for decades. Fortunately, in 2023 the building found a new owner, who promptly began its renovation.

[HR] [5.] Park Dubec nastajao je postupno od 1925. godine, te je jedan od rijetkih primjera prirodnih parkova – nastao je reguliranjem postojećih pješačkih staza i uređenjem postojeće autohtone hortikulture. U sklopu parka nalazi se i vidikovac sa zanimljivim podnim mozaikom.

Odaberite bilo koja dva kamena stupa koja tvore ogradu vidikovca (rezultat bi trebao biti isti neovisno o vašem izboru). Koliko se metalnih cijevi nalazi između dva stupa koja ste odabrali? Taj broj = F.


[EN] [5.] Dubec Park was gradually developed from 1925 onwards and is one of the rare examples of natural parks – it was created by regulating the existing hiking trails and landscaping the native horticulture. The park also features a viewpoint with an interesting floor mosaic.

Select any two stone pillars that form the fence of the viewpoint (the result should be the same regardless of your choice). How many metal pipes are located between the two pillars you have chosen? That number = F.
