When I went on a trip to the UK earlier this year, I discovered the SideTracked series, where caches are hidden near railway stations. It started in the UK, but has since spread all over the world (including here in Maryland!) Not only are there SideTracked caches, there are also SideTracked events too!
Meet at the posted coordinates. Just a simple meet and greet.
About Sykesville Station:
This area that later became known as Sykesville was originally part of the 3,000 acre Springfield Plantation owned by the Patterson family. In 1825, owner George Patterson would sell 1,000 acres to his friend James Sykes. Along the Howard County side of the Patapsco River, there was an old mill which Sykes would replace in 1830, and he would build a hotel as well. The following year, the Baltimore & Ohio Railroad would extend their main line to this area, with the station originally being known as "Horse Train Stop". With the arrival of the railroad, a town sprung up around it and would later be named Sykesville in honor of the land's owner.
During the Civil War, the Confederate Army passed through Sykesville in 1863 on their march north to Gettysburg. They would destroy the railroad tracks and other infrastructure in the town to prevent the Union Army from using it.
Designed by architect E. Francis Baldwin, the Queene Anne-style Sykesville passenger station would be completed in 1884. Passenger service to Sykesville would end in 1950, and nine years later, the station would be reduced to just one track. The station would eventually close and change hands, with it most recently being a restaurant. The station was also used as the design for many model railroad stations as well.
