Geocache Description:

This is a night cache named in honor of a long time Wisconsin Geocacher from Eau Claire. Jeff "Comkelp" Grosvold sadly succumbed to cancer shortly before the WGA 2024 fall campout at Pattison State Park. As a WGA board member, Comkelp was a key player in the choosing of Pattison for the 2024 fall event and was instrumental in helping us local cachers with cache ideas. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him.

The search begins at the ski trail parking area on the campground's southern end. From the Ski Trail sign, you should see reflective fire tacks along the right side of the paved road. Folllow the paved road to the Overlook Trail ( Trailhead waypoint). Follow the reflective tacks south. This portion of the Overlook trail is grassy and can be wet so also watch your footing. Follow the reflective tacks until you see the orange Overlook Trail marker on your left, and three vertical tacks on your right. The cache will be just beyond this point and is also reflective. Look around until you see the cache looking back at you! Cache is about 5.5 feet off the ground. Round trip to cache and back is approximately 1/2 mile.

After you locate the cache, if it's a clear night, take a moment to turn off your headlamp or flashlight, look up to the stars, and have a grateful thought for your health and happiness!

This is a ski trail in the winter and may not be accessible by foot traffic in the winter.
