Geocache Description:

19 August 2024, 11:00 - 11:30

A group of us cachers from North America are excited to meet up with other cachers while we are in the area. Some of us have been doing a land tour and will be ready to board a cruise ship shortly following our event. You can bring trackables to discover or trade if you'd like or just come for some great conversation. We look forward to meeting you. Will will have a log to sign and hope to have good conversation. Come learn some about General Gordon.

Gordon Memorial
This monument, situated in Queen's Park, is dedicated to General Charles George Gordon, slain at Khartoum 26 January 1885. The monument, built by local firm Garret and Haysom, was erected by public subscription and was unveiled on 15 October 1885, nine months after his death. It stands on a mound, nearly 50 feet high. There are four columns of Aberdeen granite on a marble base and surmounted by a floriated capital and a cross.
