On 27th of July 2014, BlLbo & I spent our first afternoon geocaching together, after I'd read about the hobby when looking for an outdoor activity to help me recover from chemotherapy & spend time with my family. Using my smartphone, we found nine caches that day in the village where BlLbo was attending school, including a multi cache & also picked up our first travel bug...
Fast forward ten years & I have over 10K finds under my belt (all found without a dedicated GPS) & have just completed my full JASMER grid. I've also hidden in excess of a hundred caches & hosted 30+ events. BlLbo has lost interest in finding caches over the years, but still enjoys hiding his own for others to find & is always planning new containers or puzzles.
As we spend a last few days in Sydney on our return home, this short event is a small celebration of our cacheversary as I managed to time our Antipodean Adventure such that we were over 11.5K miles away from home in the UK on the actual anniversary. Nevertheless, we would like to celebrate with any local cachers who can spare half an hour, or with fellow travellers in Sydney at the time to exchange stories & trackables.
I have located the event in the Herb Garden of Sydney Botanical Gardens & hopefully it will be dry so that we can meet up outside. But if it turns out to be wet, we can adjourn to the nearby pavilion for shelter.
