An old boy once lived here; he was quite a character by all accounts, though nobody can quite remember his name. I'll call him Archie for the sake of this story.
Archie would stand by his front gate, happy to engage in conversation with any passers-by. He would blether at length - and would often talk about his service during the Great Siege of Gibraltar. This made him quite a local hero.
Archie is long gone, but Gibraltar Street was reportedly named after him, and it is a fitting memorial.
More recently (2024) Gibraltar Street has received a makeover, thanks to grant funding from the Scottish Government Place-based Investment Program and Bid4Oban. The busy thoroughfare has new paving, street furniture, and a centrepiece map of Oban. The changes sparked some controversy with locals ("the money could have been better spent elsewhere") - but I rather like it. And it was calling out for a cache...

Please be stealthy in your approach, and replace carefully in exactly the same position. Thanks.
Please DO NOT post spolier photos.
I'd like to thank Joy, who I have serendipitously twice bumped into at GZ while planning this cache. She provided me with much of the background info. I hope you find this one day Joy!
