While you may be looking at the local CFA station, this location is the site of a Chinese Joss House.
Chinese miners moved to this area in the 1860s with remains of the Joss House, market gardens and cottages remaining until the 1950's when the residents moved to Corowa. In nearby field you can observe the remains of gold mining operations which were common in this area.
The names of the intersecting streets here gives some clues to the history of this area.
