I've known about geocaching for many years (in fact, that was one of the things my husband, Myrthman, and I bonded over the day we met). For a long time, I've wanted to publish my own caches, but two things have kept me from actually doing it. First, the process seems daunting. Second, I want to publish YouTube-worthy, amazingly cool, favorite-point-generating caches that I don't have the time or knowledge to build. So instead, I just do nothing.
That changed this year! Myrthman took me through the process of publishing my first cache a couple of months ago, so now obstacle one (the process) isn't quite so daunting. Obstacle two (perfectionism) bit the dust today. I saw the perfect tree on my way to teach piano lessons - what a beautiful knothole - and I knew I had to do it! Ironically my perfect tree turned out to be "knot"-so-perfect on account of I don't want my fellow cachers to die trying to get to the median of a busy road. So, you're welcome, I found the second-most perfect tree, and if you're reading this and the cache didn't get denied by the cache gurus, I did it! I published a cache all by myself!
All of this is a lengthy, and somewhat silly, way of saying, sometimes you have to take a leap of faith and trust your wings will catch the wind. It might not be perfect, but you'll finally be out of the nest!
NOTE: Please be careful and aware of traffic - this is still in the median, albeit on a much quieter street than before.
