Geocache Description:

OUT OF SOUTH AMERICA

Part of the MAC Safari Animal Caches

Well, South America is a long jump from safari and outback animals but this one was laying around and I thought, why not so I included it.  Llamas are rather diffferent than your average animal so here are some fun facts about Llamas.

Llamas can grow to be 6 ft tall and a weight up to 400lbs.

Llamas are often raised for pack animals.  They can carry up to 200lbs for 12 hours at a time.  However, if they feel the load is too heavy they will

lay down and refuse to move.

Llamas can be any one of, or combination of 52 natural colors

Llamas make good guard animals.  Put one in charge of sheep, cattle, goats, etc. and they will protect them from preditors including coyotes, wolves, dogs, lions, and even bears.

Llamas will spit at humans when provoked, but it can be trained not too by spraying them with water when they do it.

Llamas are smart and can bbe taught simple commands.

Llama dumg is used for fuel to heat homes, etc. However, it has no odor to it.

Llama have a gestation period of 369 days, almost a year, and then give birth to one newborn called a crea, which weighs between 20-30 lbs.  Rarely doe a llama give birth to twins.

Please replace this cache as it was found.  This is a church and a cemetary, please treat it with respect.  Do not cache after dusk.
