The crossing at Rosedale Road is the location of the former Nolans Station on the Canadian Pacific Railway.
This was one of four stops along the Smiths Falls-Ottawa branch back when CP still had regular passenger service. The other stops were Dwyer Hill, Richmond and Fallowfield (which still has a VIA station today).
As a very seldom used stop, the station was little more than a small hut with a coal stove for heat in winter. Trains were flagged by passengers otherwise they would not stop.
The station has long been decommissioned and at one point the hut was used as a farm storage building, but it has since been acquired and fixed up by the Smiths Falls Railway Museum and can be seen on the museum grounds if you visit.

This cache was placed for the event GSE4: What's New? which was held on August 3rd 2024.
