Kätkö sijaitsee tervaleppakorvessa Taskalin luontopolulla. Tämä on luonnonsuojelualuetta joten koetathan olla häiritsemättä täällä asuvia kasveja, eläimiä sekä muita olioita.
Kätkö on saavutettavissa pitkospuilta käsin. Kätkölle on lupa.
Alkuperäinen etanacamo meni varastajan harakan matkaan, joten nyt paikalla on tavanomaisempi piilotus.

Taskalin luontopolku
Haminalle tyypillinen luontotyyppi on mäntymetsää kalliolla. Mutta täällä Taskalinlammen ympärillä pääset näkemään jotakin aivan toisenlaista: rehevää lehtoluontoa sekä lammenrannan ainutlaatuista tervaleppakorpea, joka suuremman osan vuodesta ei osaa päättää, onko se vettä vai maata.
Lammen ympäri kiertää noin 700-metrinen polku, joka vetisemmällä puolella on osittain pitkospuita. Polun varrelta löytyy seitsemän opastaulua, jotka kertovat tämän paikan luontotyypeistä ja sen asukkaista.
Tervaleppakorpi on hyvin harvinainen luontotyyppi. Se on vähitellen muodostunut Taskalinlammen vetisille rannoille, jossa nyt on vuoroin mättäitä, avovetta ja kosteita painanteita.
Tervalepät ovat vielä nuoria, mutta kun ne vanhenee ja lopulta kaatuu, ne jätetään lahoamaan ja silloin niistä tule monen lahopuun eliön koti.
Mättäillä rehottaa hyvin harvinainen nevaimarre. Rimpipinnoilla kukoistaa keltaviolettina kukkiva ja pikkuruisia tomaatteja kasvattava punakoiso – onhan se perunan ja tomaatin sukulainen –, samaten kurjenmiekka sekä vehka, jonka mukaan sai nimensä kaupunkia ympäröinyt Vehkalahden kunta. Nykyisin se on osa Haminaa.
Ja muuten: keskiajalla "taskali" tarkoitti taskun- eli laukuntekijää.

This cache is situated in the black alder forest on the Taskali nature trail. This is a nature reserve, so please try not to disturb the plants, animals and other critters that live here.
The cache can be retrieved without leaving the boardwalk. The cache has a permission.
Originally, the cache had a snail camo, but it was stolen. Now, a simple cache box has to do.

The Taskali nature trail
Pines on rocks would be the typical landscape of the Hamina region. Here, around pond Taskali, you'll have the chance to see something different: lush groves and the unique black alder forest that most of the year is unable to decide whether it wants to be water or land.
A 700-meter trail circles the pond; on the watery side it is partly boardwalk. You will find seven info boards alongside the trail, telling (in Finnish) about the nature and inhabitants of this place.
Black alder forest is a very rare natural inhabitat. It has slowly formed on the watery banks of the Taskali pond, and is now a mosaic of turf, open water and moist depressions.
The alder trees are still young, but when they grow old and eventually fall over, they will left to decompose and they will become home to many creatures striving on decay wood.
The turf is covered with rare ferns. Between the patches of fern, you can see the yellow-violet flowers and tiny "tomatoes" of the bittersweet nightshade, alongside with irises and arum lilys. The latter, 'vehka' in Finnish, gave name to the Vehkalahti county that used to surround Hamina; by now, the two have merged.
By the way: in the Middle ages, "taskali" used to mean a bagmaker.
