Geocache Description:

Cache is placed outside of Camp William B. Snyder.  There is no need to enter the camp property. Park briefly and cautiously outside of the camp gates or across the street at the fire station.  Please take care not to block the camp entrance.  Please be sure to leave the cache hidden as you found it.

The cache was originally stocked with scouting-related SWAG plus a sticker and travel bug for First to Find.

Welcome to Camp William B. Snyder, a premier camping location within the National Capital Area Council of Scouting America.  This facility has been open to Cub Scouts, BSA Scouts, Venturers and community organizations since 2006 and encompasses 350-acres including a managed wetland. Whether you come to camp, enjoy a high-quality outdoor program, or need a place to stay while visiting DC, we are here for you.

The original cache, "Follow Me Boys!" was named for a 1966 classic Disney movie about an aspiring lawyer who finds fulfillment as a small-town Scoutmaster.  Volunteer Scouters are the heart and soul of what makes the program go.

In 2017, the Boy Scouts of America voted to open all programs (Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts, Venturing, Sea Scouts, and Exploring) to girls as well as boys, pursuant to the goal of developing character and leadership skills for all young people.

In 2018, the Boy Scouts program changed its name to Scouts BSA.  In 2019, Scouts BSA began admitting girls and chartering all-girl troops.

On February 8, 2025, the 115 anniversary of the orgaization, the Boy Scouts of America will officially change its name to Scouting America.

This cache is place in honor of the vision to prepare every eligible youth in America to become a responsible, participating citizen and leader who is guided by the Scout Oath and Law.

Scout Oath

On my honor I will do my best
To do my duty to God and my country
and to obey the Scout Law;
To help other people at all times;
To keep myself physically strong,
mentally awake, and morally straight.

Scout Law

A Scout is: Trustworthy, Loyal, Helpful, Friendly, Courteous, Kind, Obedient, Cheerful, Thrifty, Brave, Clean, and Reverent.

Cache placed with permission from Eric Smith, Camp William B. Snyder Director.
