Dom Malarek w Zalipiu pełni funkcję domu kultury i centrum promocji „malowanej wsi”. Można tam uzyskać informacje o usytuowaniu malowanych domów, których w Zalipiu jest około 40, zgłębić lokalne tradycje oraz obejrzeć wystawę. Na miejscu odbywają się również warsztaty. Przed budynkiem znajduje się bardzo fotogeniczna zalipiańska chatka i studnia. Dom Malarek, obok Zagrody Felicji Curyłowej, stanowi obowiązkowy punkt programu każdej wycieczki do Zalipia.
Dom Malarek skupia lokalne artystki kultywujące tradycję malowania chat. Aby tradycja była wciąż żywa, co roku Dom Malarek wraz z Muzeum Okręgowym w Tarnowie organizuje konkurs pod nazwą „Malowana Chata”. Jest to najdłużej trwający konkurs w zakresie sztuki ludowej w Polsce. Po raz pierwszy zorganizowany został w 1948 roku, choć początkowo nie był cykliczny. W ramach konkursu komisja powołana przez organizatora odwiedza malowane zagrody w ciągu soboty i niedzieli po święcie Bożego Ciała, a następnie w niedzielę ogłasza wyniki konkursu. Jest to wielkie święto w Zalipiu, którego uwieńczeniem jest „Zalipiański festyn”.

Dom Malarek (The House of the Painters) in Zalipie serves as a community center and a center for promoting the “painted village.” There you can get information about the location of painted houses, of which there are about 40 in Zalipie, explore local traditions and view an exhibition. To keep the tradition alive, every year the House of Painters, together with the District Museum in Tarnow, organizes a contest called “Painted Cottage.” This is the longest-running folk art contest in Poland. It was first organized in 1948, although it was not initially cyclical. As part of the contest, a committee appointed by the organizer visits the painted homesteads during the Saturday and Sunday after the Corpus Christi holiday, and then announces the results of the contest on Sunday. It is a big celebration in Zalipie, culminating in the “Zalipian festival.”
