SideTracked 2024 - 17th Anniversary Event
Every year in the UK, and around the world, SideTracked Events are held during the week around August 10th (SideTracked Day) to celebrate the placement of the first SideTracked cache in the series. This year is the 17th Anniversary of: GC15082 - The First Ever SideTracked - Evesham Traditional Geocache.
About This Event
From at least 6-7pm, we will meet to celebrate this auspicious occasion with geocaching banter and such. Food and drink are available. As always, no purchase is necessary to attend this event. We'll grab a couple of the picnic tables outside, weather permitting. Dogs are welcome on leash. Bring any travelers that need to be moved on, as a few local cachers will be heading out on various trips.
The historic Southern Railway Depot (just down the road) was designed by Richard Morris Hunt, the architect of Biltmore House, who also designed the nearby Cathedral of All Souls. It currently serves as a restaurant. There is a SideTracked cache nearby.
About SideTracked Caches
SideTracked caches are a popular series familiar to anyone that has been caching in the United Kingdom. SideTracked caches are intended to provide a quick cache n' dash at train stations. Here in the US, we don't have too many passenger trains anymore, but in many cases we'll have an old train station, or the memory of one. This series allows us to look into our railroad history, and grab a quick cache. We currently have several SideTracked caches in our area. More information can be found at the SideTracked Website.
