Geocache Description:

This multi cache involves visiting the totem poles that are along the path near the bridges over Mullum Mullum Creek.  The animals carved into each will become numbers for the final coordinates.

The numbers will come from the "Help for Injured Wildlife" fact sheet published by the Department of Energy, Environment and Climate Action (DEECA), which you will find here...

Help for Injured Wildlife

On this page, you will find links to help for 22 categories of animal, listed in alphabetical order.  To solve for the coordinates of this geocache, you will need to assign numbers to each animal/category according to its place in the alphabetical order.  For example, Bats (flying foxes and microbats) are first in alphabetical order, so they are assigned number 1.  Sea turtles are fifteenth in alphabetical order, so they are assigned number 15.

At the posted coordinates you will find two totem poles.

The animal on the top of the left-hand totem pole is AB, and the animal beneath it belongs to category C.

The animal on top of the right-hand totem pole belongs to category D.

At the second waypoint you will find two totem poles.  The animal on the left one is EE.  (From one direction the animal looks like a Wombat; from the other it clearly has a tail, making it a Possum.  For the sake of this Multi, let's go with it being a Wombat...)

The animal on the right-hand totem belongs to category F.

At the third waypoint you will find one totem pole.  The animals on it belongs to category GH.

You will find the geocache at   S37° 48.BC (4D+A)   E145° 14.EF (G+H)

Mullum Mullum Creek wends its way through Ringwood and Croydon, with walking tracks along both sides and bridges joining them.  The Mullum Mullum Creek Trail will take you through native bushland and open green spaces; you will see and hear a cacophony of bird life, and maybe even catch a climpse of native animals.

Muggles abound.  Without notice, they will be upon you: walkers, runners, cyclists, people of all ages and shapes and sizes.  Use stealth!

This series of geocaches will take you on walks through many of the parks in Ringwood and surrounding suburbs.  The geocaches can be done as a single walk joining them all together.  Alternately, you can drive to a location, find the cache, and enjoy the park.
