As someone who has studied and taught music for most of my life, this is one of my favourite topics to pair with one of my favourite hobbies….geocaching!
FRENCH HORN
The French Horn is a brass instrument that has a very mellow sound. The tubing of this instrument is wound around in a circle with the sound coming out of the bell which faces behind the performer.
It is probably one of the hardest brass instruments to play because, although it still has valves to change the pitch, the instrument is in a higher range and therefore many of the notes have to be played by changing the pressure on the lips.
The French horn will be heard in music that is imitating the sound of hunting horns.
