As someone who has studied and taught music for most of my life, this is one of my favourite topics to pair with one of my favourite hobbies….geocaching!
GUITAR
The guitar is probably the most commonly heard instrument today. It’s an instrument that can be easily carried and can be “acoustic” (non-electric) or electric. The sound is produced by plucking the strings and the pitch is produced by fingering on the fingerboards.
The guitar is made of a body and a neck which contains the fingerboard and frets.
There are many styles of music that is played on guitars. Classical guitar music is usually played on an acoustic guitar and can be heard in Spanish music and in smaller concerts where a louder sound is not needed.
The electric guitar is used mostly in concert halls where the sound will need to be amplified. It is used by nearly every contemporary band and vocalist.
