During weekdays even late at night there's a semi-regular flow of people from the nearby software development companies to the bus stop. The nearest metro stations - three of them; Kemulang, Huangbei and Science City - are all roughly 2.5km away and not the most appealing walk either. So for those reliant on the metro and without an e-bike they need to wait for a bus first to take them to the station. (The cache is pretty much directly in line from the bus stop, at the railing area.) The bike sharing bikes are an alternative but the low seat setting makes them a poor option for trips of more than a kilometre or two. By hard-earned experience such people have learned to carry umbrellas.
The new-look bus stops eschew cover in favour of a simple pole with some rudimentary route information. When it's raining, the software engineers contemplate more literal clouds and huddle under umbrellas while waiting for their bus.
