Geocache Description:

We're very pleased to be able to reinstate this Church Micro that was originally owned by darapotter. We've placed it in a different location nearer to this lovely old church and hope you will be able to visit and enjoy the interior. The interior walls are decorated in 'sgraffito' in the Arts and Crafts style.  This is created by the artist cutting the design in a pale damp plaster to expose the contrasting base coat. This had to be worked quite quickly before the plaster dried out so only small areas were worked at a time.

In 1883 the first electric striking clock in England was installed in the tower with the mechanism controlled from the rectory about 130 yards away. The clock was made by Charles Shepherd who also made the clocks at the Royal Observatory. In 1984 the mechanism was taken to the Science Museum for restoration where it remains today.

Parking at the given waypoint is recommended with a short walk up the track to the church. To park at the church there is a gate to be opened part way up the track. Dog friendly but there is a notice in the porch requesting that dogs don't enter the church.
