As with many Mystery Caches, the cache is NOT at the posted coordinates. So, don't go there or you will just get all wet!
NOTE: the road to the cache is gravel and winding, so please drive carefully.
GPS_Fool was one of the earliest people hiding caches in NY. Several of them are still around and only recently were a few caches adopted by other cachers. In Clark's Gully, GPS_Fool hid a 5 gallon bucket (much like the very first geocache) back in May of 2000 which was called The Spot, GC39. At some point, due to various problems with the bucket, it was replaced by an ammo can. The trails have changed some, but the view is still wonderful, 24 years later! The Spot is the oldest cache in NY state.
I have been caching since 2012. Later that same year, I attended my first Bee Hive Breakfast. At one of those events, someone asked me if I had found The Spot. As a new cacher, I had not, of course. Later, I tried looking online for The Spot and found a restaurant. I was a bit puzzled when I didn't find a cache listed there though. Months later, I finally asked about it again and was told that it was a cache, near Naples. I found it in August of 2023.
During my 12 years of caching, I have met a great variety of people, including Marlin01. When Marlin01 asked me to hold an event at The Spot around GeoCoinFest 2024 in Syracuse, I immediately decided to also place this cache, In Honor of The Spot. I have selected some cachers from different parts of NY state that I have met and that have also found The Spot. My apologies to those whom I didn't choose. Once you figure out the puzzle, you will realize why I have had to limit my choices.
