Silent watch, under moonlit skies,
Veterans dream, with open eyes.
In their silence, stories unfold,
Of bravery, unspoken, and untold.
There are so many unspoken things that a service member may never share with anyone once they become a veteran. Whether it be PTSD, learning to live with dibilitating conditions, or just trouble adjusting to civilian life. Many factors like these contribute to high suicide rates among veterans. I would like to encourage anyone suffering with anything like this to speak to someone. There are resources available to you, and there are many of us, all around you. A short trip to the Alexandria Veteran's hospital will show you that you are not alone. We are everywhere! Please reach out to someone if you are having a hard time.

The cache is located on the far side of the Trinity Baptist Church parking lot. Many people pass by here on the way to J.I. Barron Elementary school. The school is named after James Ivy Barron Sr. He was a native of Rapides Parish and served on the Rapides Parish School Board from 1923 to 1952, serving as president for the last 7 years of that time.
