Geocache Description:

Dinosaur Finale

Around 66 million years ago, a catastrophic event wiped out the majority of dinosaur species, marking the end of the Cretaceous period. This mass extinction event also affected numerous other life forms, including marine reptiles, pterosaurs, and many plant species. While the exact causes remain a subject of scientific debate, the most widely accepted theory involves a massive asteroid impact that triggered widespread environmental changes, such as global cooling and acid rain. Volcanic activity and other factors may have also contributed to this devastating event.
