Geocache Description:

As you step off the Hogwarts Express onto the platform at Hogsmeade Station (parking coordinates), you have a choice for your route to Hogwarts Castle. Both options are viable. They each have their own challenges. Choose wisely!


Option 1: Boats on Black Lake	Option 2: Horseless Carriages Along the Shore

Hagrid meets you and helps you with your supplies. The ride on the lake is gentle, however you are glad you have your friends along, as disembarking at the landing site can be tricky.	Students in the upper classes take carriages to the castle. The shoreline route is hilly and circuitous, and you may encounter some of the dangers of the Forbidden Forest.
From parking, it is a 1/8 mile (0.125; 660 feet...whichever sounds shortest) downhill portage to the put in area (and there is no Hagrid to help). Each stage requires exiting your vessel; a kayak strap is recommended to tie up. Great trip to bring a friend along!	Look down at your two feet: those are your carriages. Trails work for a while, until they don't go where you need to go. Wading is not required. Swimming in the reservoir is not allowed. A topo map might come in handy.
