Tour d’Ulster
Le 1er juillet 1916, les hommes de la 36ème division d'Ulster se mirent en marche à 7h30 pour saisir une position clé allemande, appelée "La Redoute des Souabes" : c'est la seule unité a avoir atteint son objectif ce jour là. À l'endroit même où les hommes d'Ulster se sont battus, se dresse aujourd'hui la Tour d'Ulster. De style néo-troubadour, la tour est une réplique de la Tour Hélène, située à Belfast, à l’endroit même où se trouvait le camp d’entrainement de la division.

Ulster Tower
On 1st July the men of the 36th Ulster Division set out at 7.30 am to take a key German position known as Schwaben Redoubt. That day they were the only unit to reach their objective. The Ulster Tower now stands on the very ground where the men of Ulster fought. This Troubadour-style tower is a replica of Helen’s Tower in Belfast on the division’s training ground. Inside the tower are commemorative plaques, paintings and poppy wreaths in homage to the 5000 men who fell in the Battle of the Somme.
