Geocache Description:

On May 2, 2000, President Clinton fully opened up GPS accuracy, which had previously been restricted to civilian use, so that everyone could benefit. This has dramatically improved convenience in many areas, including land surveying, aircraft and ship navigation, and car navigation.

Then, to see how much accuracy had really improved, some people filled a pail can with souvenirs and hid it in the woods. He posted the coordinates on the Internet and asked people to report back to him if they found it, and within a week, people started finding it one after another. The idea was to make a game out of it, and the game, “Geocaching,” was born.

The event will be held to commemorate May 2, 25 years ago, when GPS was first opened up.
Here in Numappara, there is the oldest existing geocache in Tochigi Prefecture, GCQ7A0 Numappara, and other caches, which we will show you after the event. Please come with comfortable walking gear as the paths are mountainous. We will have lunch before departure, so please bring your own lunch box, rice balls, snacks and drinks (Drivers must drink non-alchohol only).
