Geocache Description:

After the very first geocache was hidden south-east of Portland in Oregon, USA, back on the 3rd of May 2000, it didn't take long before Australia had it's very first cache - hidden on the 18th of May 2000 by Paul Edwards {kerravon} in the Lane Cove National Park. The hide consisted of a white bucket with a lid, that was buried in the ground. Sadly on the 19th of August 2001 the bucket was taken away by a NPWS ranger due to the coordinates being in a protected area. The cache has since become a virtual to continue it's history.

To celebrate 25 years of geocaching fun in Australia, Geocaching NSW is inviting the geocaching community to come together and celebrate the placement of
GC3E – Lane Cove.

The event will be on Sunday the 18th of May 2025 from 10am until noon, at the Commandment Rock picnic area.

You can enter Lane Cove National park via Delhi Road or Lane Cove Road. The entry fee is $8 per car per day [unless you have a national parks pass].
There are toilets onsite but no food or drink facilities so BYO. If you would like to bring along a plate of party food to share with everyone, you are most welcome to do so. Sorry no dogs allowed in the national park.

Events are a great way to meet people and discuss all things geocaching, plan your next adveture or pick up a tip on that pesky puzzle you have been working on. Please log your will attend below.
The Geocaching NSW shop will be onsite for you to pick up some of our coins you may have missed out on
.

We would like to thank Bruce {Calypso62} for donating this CCE to Geocaching NSW on behalf of David {Rama497} who was a great friend to many and a valued member of the geocaching community who sadly passed away in 2024.
He is deeply missed.
