Whoops, once again I'm running out of time to host a Community Celebraiton event! Let's meet from 9:30-11:30am on Saturday, December 13, in Brea at Olinda Ranch Neighborhood Park, just off Santa Fe Road and Carbon Canyon Road. We'll have a swap meet of sorts, modelled on the one held at the Cachin' the Bay Block Party in San Jose earlier this year. Bring any extra containers, swag, TOTTs you no longer want, random items that might go into gadget cache construction, and other caching related supplies that you don't want anymore but think that someone else might be able to use.
- This is meant to be a free event; please don't bring items to sell.
- You don't need to bring anything in order to take something, and you're certainly welcome to take more than you bring!
- You don't have to take back unclaimed items you've brought; at the end of the event I'll make sure things get recycled, trashed, and/or put in a box in the car to bring out for perusal at future events.
The GBA's blog entry for their Geocaching Swap Meet at Cachin' the Bay is a good reference for what to expect, and suggestions of items to bring.
We'll try for the large picnic shelter, but since they can't be reserved in advance we might need to use one of the smaller shelters or some of the nearby picnic tables if there's another group using the big shelter. The two smaller shelters are listed as waypoints, and I'll make an announcement if we need to use one of them or a nearby set of picnic tables. The park is accessible from the parking lots via long ramps or stairs. All three picnic shelters are on concrete slabs and are connected to the sidewalk that winds through the park. This event happens rain or shine; if it's raining, it might be chilly, but there likely won't be any competition to use the picnic shelter! In the event of very bad weather, I'll make the call for an alternate location.
