Come visit the community of Heritage Village and celebrate Geocaching with conversation and camaraderie!
If you've never been to Heritage Village before, you're in for a real treat! This Pinellas County park is definitely a hidden gem. If you have been here, then you know what an interesting and fun location it is. I couldn't think of a better place to get together and share Geocaching stories and friendship!
The park is free, and on Sundays is open from 1-4 pm, and our event will be from 1:30 - 3:30. We will meet in the Safford Pavilion, which is right behind the Williams Bandstand replica. Once you've parked (I've included parking coordinates for two different locations), the posted coordinates will bring you right to the pavilion. Heritage Village is adjacent to the Florida Botanical Gardens with easy passageways between.
Safford Pavilion:

A visit to Heritage Village is like stepping back in time. The park contains 33 historic structures, including several period homes--the Lowe House (1888), the House of Seven Gables (1907), the Moore House (1879), the Walsingham House (1915), the McMullen-Coachman Log Cabin (1852) (oldest existing structure in Pinellas County), and several others--along with a smokehouse, boat shop, railroad depot, bandstand, one-room schoolhouse, church, and the H.C. Smith General Store (1915) which includes a service garage (with antique cars!) and barbershop. The grounds also include a small museum, a gift shop, and restroom facilities.

Water fountains are nearby, and the general store sells sodas and bottled water, but I will have an assortment of drinks and snacks as well. (And a few give-away/raffle prizes!) Bring along any trackables you may have for sharing, trading or discovering.
(Please note that the Heritage Village / Florida Botanical Gardens campus is a smoke-free environment).
There are several geocaches surrounding Heritage Village as well as in the adjacent Florida Botanical Gardens. Heritage Village and Florida Botanical Gardens both have Adventure Labs as well. And right across the street to the south is Walsingham Park, which has at least 20 geocaches!
Come mingle and/or share stories of your latest caching adventures!
(Many thanks to Hannah Hayes, Curator of Education, Heritage Village, Pinellas County Parks and Conservation Resources, for her kind assistance).
