The road to Parawai Lodge is open again, after much mahi on slips along the road.
Come and celebrate the re-opening and 25 years of geocaching!
The event is in Parawai Lodge and will go ahead rain or shine — I wanted somewhere in the bush for my CCE… but also accessible to non-trampers.
Note the last part of the drive involves a one-lane dirt road with ford (town cars will be fine if the conditions are good). Followed by a 5 minute walk across grassland, a swing bridge with steps on one end, and some lovely bush — a small section of the Te Araroa Trail. There’s no cell reception/electricity, and there’s a DoC non-flushing toilet.
There will be a celebratory cake! Please bring a shared plate for lunch, unctuous or otherwise (bearing in mind the lack of cooking facilities).
