Geocache Description:

[RO]πŸ‡·πŸ‡΄

Pentru realizarea podului a fost gandit un concurs de proiecte, cu termen de predare in 20 martie 1922, fiind implicata si Primaria municipiului Cluj-Napoca; la fel ca si acum;

– au fost 7 proiecte in total, fiecare avand un motto sugestiv; a castigat proiectul cu motto-ul "Decebal";

– proiectul a fost realizat de inginerii Edmund Sebestyen (nume maghiar se citeste: sebesten) si Eduard Meisel (evrei amandoi); reprezentau firma Atlas SA din Cluj-Napoca

– podul era cu arc simplu, fara nervuri, latimea arcului avand 17 m si trotuarele pe console de 1,80 m;

– lucrarile de executie a podului au inceput in anul 1928, iar in urma unei licitatii contractul a fost atribuit societatii Inginer Tiberiu Eremia din Bucuresti pentru 6.618.440 lei (in acea perioada valoarea leului romanesc era echivalenta cu cea a francului);

*Firma care a castigat licitatia (Ing. Tiberiu Eremia) a facut si Catedrala Ortodoxa din Cluj-Napoca

Β

– in anul 1930 s-a asfaltat podul – firma Bitumen din Oradea

Β

– in primavara anului 1931 au inceput lucrarile pentru parapetul podului, podul fiind dat in folosinta in toamna anului 1931, ultimele lucrari fiind cele pentru iluminat public in ianuarie 1932".

A design competition was held to build the bridge, with a deadline of March 20, 1922, and the Cluj-Napoca City Hall was also involved; just like now;

– there were 7 projects in total, each with a suggestive motto; the project with the motto "Decebal" won;

– the project was carried out by engineers Edmund Sebestyen (Hungarian name is read: sebesten) and Eduard Meisel (both Jews); they represented the company Atlas SA from Cluj-Napoca

– the bridge had a simple arch, without ribs, the width of the arch was 17 m and the sidewalks on consoles of 1.80 m;

– the construction works of the bridge began in 1928, and following a tender, the contract was awarded to the company Inginer Tiberiu Eremia from Bucharest for 6,618,440 lei (at that time the value of the Romanian leu was equivalent to that of the franc);

*The company that won the auction (Eng. Tiberiu Eremia) also built the Orthodox Cathedral in Cluj-Napoca

Β

– in 1930 the bridge was asphalted – the Bitumen company from Oradea

Β

– in the spring of 1931 the works for the bridge parapet began, the bridge being put into use in the autumn of 1931, the last works being those for public lighting in January 1932".
