Hidden a little behind a carob tree is a raised concrete platform, which was once an IDF guard post. A small iron ladder leads to the position. At its base is the splendid Ridge neighborhood of Atlit. The neighborhood was built on the site of a large quarry from the British Mandate period. The hard limestone from the ridge was used to carve stones for the construction of the breakwaters at Haifa Port. Later, the IDF used the area for ammunition storage, and the guard post kept an eye on the area. Beyond the neighborhood, the Atlit Fortress and the salt ponds are clearly visible.
