What is the Scientific Name for the Poplar genus?
You can validate your puzzle solution with
certitude.
This genus of trees is one of the most common and definately the fastest growing. You look at a cottonwood and you think that thing has been there forever, but at the blistering rates these trees grow it is just a baby compared to other species of a similar size. Aspen are a sought after pulp wood for their fast growing biomass, but are not as strong as other pulps, that goes for its' timber as well. If you had a nice panel of aspen you may like it, but it is not as beautiful as the others in the area. Often the poplar species are used for packaging and pallets, if their timber is sought after. They are often the first and fastest trees to grow after clearcutting so the most quick to be ready for market in a sustainable sense. So not the most sought after but one of the most utilized genus. The aspen is known for it's poppel whips that new trees pup up from the roots of a downed tree and remain one plant. In fact the largest single organism is a poplar that has just kept sprouting new shoots from it's roots.
