Geocache Description:

I have always wondered why Kingsville is called Kingsville..

This is a transcription of an original document which identifies the naming of the community of KINGSVILLE - The original is held by Mildred Rimes, a resident of Rapides Parish and granddaughter of William Taylor King.

Quote:
We the under signed Citizens, friends and good neighbors of Kingsville do here by pay the amount opposite our names for the purpose of purchasing flowers as a token of love and loyal Friendship to Mr. W. T. King. He was loved by his many friends; The Town of Kingsville was named for him. His many friends regret the loss of a good friend like Mr. King.

William Taylor King died on November 27, 1942 and is buried in the Greenwood Cemetery in Pineville, LA.

The list of names include 24 entries (some were couples). The amounts donated range from 50 cents to 100 dollars! It must have been quite the floral arrangement, with that amount of money in 1942.
