This is the 34th Avenue Open Street. We live near here and use the Avenue almost every day during the school year. The project to close the avenue to cars started in March 2020, when Mayor Bill de Blasio announced that 4 NYC streets, one of them being 34th Ave, were going to close to cars for 5 days a week with police staffing the barriers. The citywide project came to a stop after 11 days. Thanks to the 34th Avenue Open Streets Coalition, 34th Avenue has remained closed to vehicle traffic 7 days a week, from 7 am to 8 pm. There are now big planters with plants in them, new ground material, and programs on the street for kids and adults alike. Cache Info: a magnetic nano. There is limited street parking. Bring a pen. Hope you enjoy the cache and learned something new!
