Geocache Description:

The Newbie Challenge Cache is at the Posted Coordinates

This is a Challenge Cache. In order to claim a find you must have met the terms of the challenge. This Challenge is designed to help, encourage, and inform Newbies. A Newbie is an individual that has just started caching. We were all Newbies at one time. Hopefully a Newbie can learn from the style of hide and become encouraged to do more caching. There is a challenge checker you can run to see if you qualify.

While this cache may be found by anyone that meets the qualifications, it is aimed at new cachers.

The purpose of this challenge is to get new cachers out there expanding their Geocaching experience.  Check out the many other types there and have more fun.

What do you need to do?  Find 1 cache. To qualify for this challenge cache you must have found at least one traditional cache - that's it! Even a newbie can qualify for it... hence the name!

This is a Challenge Cache If you are unfamiliar with the term, a challenge cache is a cache which requires an individual to complete two tasks to claim a find:

  1.  The first task is to find the cache container and sign the log.
  2. The second task is to qualify for the find by completing the challenge.

An individual who has found the cache but does not qualify for the challenge may still log their visit by using the "write note" log type and may change their note to a found it log at a later date by completing the challenge. In accordance with the rules for Challenge Caches, the following applies to all caches in this series:

  1. The owner qualifies for the challenge.
  2. The challenge is located at the waypoint labled "final location" on the cache page.
  3. A Project-GC checker is provided for verification of qualification.
  4. The difficulty rating is based off the challenge and the terrain rating is based off the actual terrain of the cache.

If you do not qualify for the challenge the CO reserves the right to delete your log without notice. Enjoy the challenge! No problem here, because I'm sure you qualify.

The Hide: The hide is a ubiquitous style that usually stumps newbies when they first encounter one. This is why the difficulty rating is 5 for a Newbie.  Once one learns the style it is easy-peasy. I recall visiting a location and returning 4 times without luck. I checked bushes, signs, utility boxes etc. without any luck. My young grandson came with me on the final visit and walked right up and exposed it.

LPC is an acronymn for  Light Pole Cache. See the skirt or shroud that is at the base of the light pole covering the plate and bolts that attach the pole to its foundation. Lift the skirt to find the cache container inside. Sometimes it may not be visible, it is more devious when a magnetic key holder or nano is attached up inside a metal shroud. Good luck now that you know what a LPC is.

Read the hints below if you want more help in locating the cache container.

The Project-GC checker (if you need it) is below:
