Geocache Description:

Meet the Kitty

Cat Servant: Beahlescout10
The Cat: Alice Bear

In a village on the banks of the St Joseph river, lived a feline named Alice Bear. Unlike any ordinary cat, Alice had an adventurous spirit that was as vibrant as her fluffy butterscotch fur. With striking gold eyes that sparkled with curiosity, she was a beloved companion to her human, Beaglescout10, who often took her on rides in his Jeep.

One sunny afternoon, Beaglescout surprised Alice with a new adventure—geocaching! Intrigued by the idea of treasure hunting, Alice's ears perked up at the sound of the word “cache.” Beaglescout explained how geocaching worked, showing Alice iPhone and a map dotted with colorful markers that represented hidden treasures scattered throughout their town. Alice's tail flicked with excitement; she couldn't wait to explore.

They jumped into the Jeep and drove away. Their first stop was a nearby park, where Alice scanned the map on the geocaching app, finding the coordinates for their first geocache. They trekked through a flower-filled meadow, over the wooden bridge and down a short geo-trail just off the path. Alice, ever the explorer, bounded ahead, her little bell collar jingling with every leap.

When they arrived at the coordinates, they found a gnarled old tree with a hollow at its base. Alice crouched down, peering inside, “I think we found it!” With bated breath, they both peered into the gloom of the hole. To Alice’s astonishment, there it was—a weathered, camouflaged container. It was like finding a secret treasure chest!

Beaglescout carefully lifted the container out of the hollow, and Alice's green eyes glimmered with anticipation. As he opened the box, a gentle breeze rustled the leaves above, and Alice leaned in closer to inspect. Inside, instead of the expected trinkets and notes, they found a delightful surprise: a collection of cat-themed toys! There were mice filled with catnip, bouncy balls that jingled, and even a small, fluffy panda toy that Alice couldn’t help but pounce on immediately.

“Look at this treasure, Alice!” Beaglescout said with a laugh, clearly amused by Alice’s reaction. Alice rolled onto her back, cradling the plush panda between her paws. It was the softest toy she had ever felt, and before long, she was happily batting it around, completely absorbed in her newfound plaything.

Beaglescout took a fish shaped toy out of his pocket to trade for the panda. Then he took a moment to write in the logbook that was also hidden in the cache. “We found this cache filled with the best toys for our beloved adventurer, Alice Bear!” He wrote, his heart warmed by the joy radiating from Alice Bear.

Alice, sensing her human’s happiness, paused to give him a grateful nuzzle. It was the start of legendary new adventures ,filled with laughter, exploration, and shared secrets.

As the sun began to set, painting the sky with hues of orange and red, Alice Bear and Beaglescout trotted back to the Jeep. With a heart full of joy and a paw full of the fluffy panda, Alice knew that life's greatest treasures were often found in the company of those we love—and perhaps, in the thrill of adventure, too.

The Trail

The Fred Meijer Flat River Valley Rail-Trails runs from Belding to Greenville and caches are placed within the right of way for the trail. A few caches are placed along the Fred Meijer Flat River Trail that circles Greenville and a few are on the sides of the roads. You can walk, run, bike, snowshoe, and cross country ski the rail-trail between Belding and Greenville. Currently the majority of rail-trail is not paved; it is crushed asphalt.

Parking

Coordinates for parking are in the additional waypoints of the first cache to this Geo-Art, GCAWHAX.

Caches

Some caches may require wading, short tree climbs, log crossing, and climbing up steep hills. Many of the caches are winter friendly but several are at ground level. You may need to dig through the snow for a few. All containers are painted sports bottles with a tube inside for the log book. Containers are tethered to location with strong camoed fish line. Please do not break.  Do not add any swag to the container or the next may not be able to get out the log book.  If a cap comes up missing, please, let CO know or carry a few sports bottle caps with you. If the fish line breaks, fix or let the CO know.

Please be respectful of this area!
