The Slow Motion Campus Tour is a (perhaps never-ending) series of geocaching events at various noteworthy places on the University of Washington Campus. For the 15th event, we'll head to UW Tower, the tallest building in the University District.
The tower was built for the Safeco Insurance Corporation in 1975 and purchased by the University in 2006. It is likely the tallest building in the country north of downtown Seattle. A few nearby recently-built residential towers have more stories than the UW Tower, but probably aren't taller, as residential stories are not as tall as 1970s office stories.
GZ features a nice fountain by George Tsutakawa, and should get you a view of the new building across the street above the University District Light Rail station. As usual, driving to campus isn't recommended.
