This War Memorial is close to the site of a World War 2 fighter plane crash. On 13th January 1945 an American Mustang fighter plane crashed into the sea after developing engine trouble whilst returning from a combat mission. Flight Officer Raymond H King, based at Wattisham in Suffolk, survived the crash but perished in the bitterly cold sea before he could be rescued.
At the published co-ordinates there is a commemorative plaque, which usually has flowers or poppies next to it, especially at the time of Remembrance Sunday. Below this there is a smaller plaque that details the date when the plaque was unveiled by the pilots cousin, a gentleman from Wildwood in Florida, USA.
Use the date, in the form of AB/CD/EFGH to find the eastings for the cache.
E 001 (D-E)F.(G-A-D)(B+C)(B+H)
To find the northings you will need to solve a fairly simple puzzle, that should be possible to do on a smart phone, but it may be better to solve the puzzle before setting out.
You are looking for a small custom made cache.
