Geocache Description:

If you are doing this cache by car DO NOT USE THE CHURCH CAR PARK which has a camera and you will get fined. Car parking is available on some of the streets around to the church - you are most likely to find places on St Simon's Road or St Ronan's Road. There is no parking on Waverley Road.

The church was designed by Thomas Hellyer of Ryde. Building began in 1864 and was finally completed in June 1866 'in the decorated English style'. It was consecrated on 2nd July 1868 by the Bishop of Winchester. It is constructed of yellow and red brick with a slate roof. It was substantially remodelled in the early years of the 20th Century when electric lighting was installed and the pews were rearranged to provide for a central aisle. A further major development took place between 1979 and 1982.
