At the end of the Cergneu valley, together with Szélkiáltó and Maci, we found a commemorative plaque in memory of the fallen of the Second World War. It seemed like a good place to leave a cache in order to invite to visit this small valley in Friuli that we like so much, also because we were welcomed by a sign with the name: Orsolandia, "Bearland".... that recalls an animal very dear to us. In the restaurant where we stopped, we only heard Friulian spoken, but the valley is historically Slovenian-speaking. The Cergneu manuscript, the first administrative document in Slovenian, important for knowing many Slavic toponyms of the area, is linked to this place. At the beginning of the road that leads to Nongruella (where the cache is located) in Cergnau inferiore you leave on the left the Cergneu castle, of medieval origin, which is probably worth a visit (https://consorziocastelli.it/castles/udine/cergneu)
