The Blundeston Prison was built in 1963 and decommissioned in 2014.

Notable inmates include:

East End gangster Reggie Kray, "Shoe Bomber" Richard Reid, and "Lotto Lout" Michael Carroll.

In 2021, the prison was torn down to create a housing development.
