The Wizarding World Geocache Series
"Upon the signature of the International Statute of Secrecy in 1689, wizards went into hiding for good. It was natural, perhaps, that they formed their own small communities within a community."
— The secrecy surrounding the wizarding world
The Wizarding World, also referred to as the magical community, is the society in which wizards and witches live and interact, separate from non-wizarding society. The two communities are kept separate through the use of charms, spells, and secrecy. Wizards and witches are forbidden to reveal anything about magic to Muggle society due to the International Statute of Wizarding Secrecy, but that does not mean that the two worlds live entirely apart.
Welcome to Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry and Surrounding Grounds
"As our Mandrakes are only seedlings... their cries won't kill yet. However, they will knock you out for several hours... make sure your earmuffs are securely in place... and be careful of the Venomous Tentacula, it's teething."
- Professor of Herbology at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry
The Hogwarts greenhouses are a collection of glass-roofed structures located on the grounds of the castle, behind the main building and near the vegetable patch. They serve as the location for Herbology lessons and are home to an array of rare, exotic, and dangerous magical plants.
The greenhouses are organized and numbered based on the plants’ level of danger that are grown within them (i.e. Greenhouse One has the least dangerous plants and Greenhouse Three has the most dangerous).
Greenhouse One: Used by first-year students, this greenhouse contains no dangerous species and is where pupils learn basic magical botany, such as the characteristics of Devil’s Snare.
Greenhouse Two: Another structure utilized for general Herbology lessons.
Greenhouse Three: Reserved for older, more advanced students (such as second-years and above). This greenhouse holds highly fascinating and hazardous flora, most notably the writhing, spiky Venomous Tentacula and shrieking Mandrakes.
Other Houses: Beyond the primary classrooms, structures like Greenhouse Six exist on the grounds. This particular out-of-bounds greenhouse is strictly monitored by Prefects and is utilized for storage and housing smaller plant patches.
