Geocache Description:

This is the bonus cache for Adventure Lab Fulbourn – Six Bells Mystery. It is not at the published co-ordinates.
To find it you will need to solve the 'Six Bells Mystery', a notorious (but fictional) murder that took place in Fulbourn back in 1882.

There are six suspects and each of the five Ad Lab journal pages (seen after you answer the question) contain a clue that proves the innocence of one suspect (it will also contain a number that you will need to put into the formula for the co-ordinates - see below). In the end the guilty party is revealed.

The Six Bells Mystery

You are local policeman PC Nick Cuffer and you have awoken to cries of “Murder!”, as a frightened farmer comes banging on your door calling on you to come quickly to his barn.

Dressing hastily, you hurry to the barn, where a gruesome sight meets your eyes.

Lying on the floor of the barn is the body of a young man with a bloody wound to his head. The blood is drying, he has probably been dead for few hours.

You recognise the victim as local villain George Graft, a flash-dressing braggart, a ne’er-do-well and a womaniser.

George Graft was universally blamed for the suicide of housemaid Nancy Newton who, folk said, he had ‘wronged and ruined’.

Near the body you find:

• A handwritten note saying “This I did for poor Nancy. rot in hell!”

• A dirty handkerchief - not the sort of one that dapper George would have owned.

• Several bloody boot-prints leading away - about size 10.

It is common knowledge that the six church bell-ringers had been most antagonistic towards George and so they become your ‘prime suspects’, especially since you soon discover that not one of them can be found to be questioned!

The Six Bell-ringers

Andrew Abrahams: labourer, good with animals

Bill Brown: blacksmith, strong as an ox

Charles Casburn: shopkeeper, deep and moody

Davy Dwyer: odd-job man, a bit ‘strange’

Edward Elliot: wagoner, walks with crutches

Frank Fox; son of Frederick Fox, owner of Fulbourn Manor

So, time to do some leg-work Constable. There are five key locations in the village, one at each Ad Lab stage. It doesn’t really matter which order you do them in, but we suggest you do them in the numbered order.

1. The Six Bells

2. The Medieval House

3. St Vigor’s Church

4. Fulbourn Manor

5. Ludlow Green

Remember! There are six suspects and each of the five Ad Lab locations’ journal pages (seen after you answer the question) contains a clue that proves the innocence of one suspect (it will also contain a number that you will need to put into the formula for the co-ordinates - see below). The name of the murderer will give you the 6th number you need.

Good luck!

Getting the co-ordinates

Once your investigation is over you will have the following numbers:

A = the number of pints

B = the time of the murder

C = the number of years of teaching

D = the shoe size

E = the number of dogs

F = the number of letters in the murderer’s surname

With these you can work out the final co-ordinates at:

N52 B.0(B-E)(E-F)

E000 (D+7).(C+C+A+10)
