המושבה כרכור נוסדה בתחילת המאה ה-20 סביב חקלאות. בשנת 1932 נחפרה באזור באר המים הראשונה שבעקבותיה נחגג "חג המים" ב-5 ביולי. מערכת אספקת המים לצרכי בית וחקלאות היתה בידי המועצה המקומית של כרכור, ומגדל המים ברחוב ניר, שהוקם עוד בשנת 1926 וניצב עד היום במרכז הישוב לאחר שעבר שימור, הוא עדות לימים ההם.
The Karkur settlement was founded in the early 20th century around agriculture. In 1932, the first water well was dug in the area, following which the "Water Festival" was celebrated on July 5. The water supply system for household and agricultural needs was in the hands of the local council of Karkur, and the water tower on Nir Street, which was built back in 1926 and still stands today in the center of the settlement after being preserved, is a testimony of those days.
