After finding the wonderful nearby cache and being impressed by the beutiful nature in Ma'agan Michael, I decided that the kibbutz deserved a second cache. This one is on the other side, where visitors will get to see the many sea birds around the expansive fish ponds, and can enjoy the sandy beach. The cache is located near the "Lev Hayam" Sculpture (לב הים, lit. Heart of the Sea).
Important: The kibbutz is not open 24/7. It's closed at night and has limited hours on weekends and holidays. If in doubt call them. When you pass security, tell them you're going to the beach and they will let you in. There is no entrance fee.
Ma'agan Michael (מַעֲגַן מִיכָאֵל, lit. Michael's Anchorage) is a kibbutz located on the Mediterranean Sea coast, between Haifa and Hadera. It falls under the jurisdiction of Hof HaCarmel Regional Council. In 2022 it had a population of 2,074. Ma'agan Michael is among Israel's largest and most financially independent kibbutzim.
The original site was a windswept, treeless sandstone (Eolianite) hill. Some of this land was reclaimed from Kabarra swamp. The nearby Timsah Springs, which originates from the Taninim Stream, is one of the local sources of brackish water for the kibbutz' numerous fishponds, which total 1,600 dunams (1.6 km2) in surface area. The Nahal Taninim nature reserve lies south of the kibbutz and is the site of an ancient Roman dam and aqueduct, which have been restored by the Department of Antiquities, the Drainage Authorities, and Nature and Parks Authorities.
