Save the Date: World Postcard Day is on October 1!
The following is from the Geocaching.com blog, explaining about this brand new souvenir event!!
Geocaching and postcards go hand in hand.
We all know the joy of opening a container—whether that be a mailbox or a geocache—and discovering something unexpected hidden inside. What’s even better is getting the chance to meet people from around the world that share the same excitement. Both postcards and geocaches connect us to our community and make the world that we explore feel just a little bit closer.
Did you know that there’s an official day to celebrate postcards? October 1 is World Postcard Day! This day began in 2019 to mark the 150th anniversary of the postcard. Every year, postcard enthusiasts meet up to celebrate the occasion, even making special postcards and stamps!
How to earn the new souvenir: Celebrate with us by posting an Attended log on any Event from September 29 to October 5, 2024.
To help everyone earn their new souvenir, I'm going to be hosting two events: one on the kickoff Sunday, September 29th and then a second one on the final day, Saturday, October 5th. Hopefully this gives everyone a chance to attend either of them to earn their World Postcard Day souvenir!
For this first event, since it's a Sunday, let's get together at Dobra Tea (75 N Main St, Ashland, OR 97520) from 2:00 to 3:00 pm for some conversation on a Sunday afternoon! Of course, no purchase is ever necessary to attend, just bring yourself and your smile! I always look forward to seeing everyone's amazingly bright smiles!
Keep an eye out for the second event, which will be a pizza lunchtime event at the South MOD Pizza on Saturday, October 5th, from 1:00 - 2:00 pm. (https://coord.info/GCAX9QG)
I hope to see you come out and join in at least one of the events, if not both, to say hi and earn your brand new World Postcard Day souvenir!!
