This is a letter box cache to bring attention to both the fun and uniqueness of letterbox/hybrids and the endagered wood turtle
The genus Glyptemys, the wood turtle is recognized as the sole species,, reflecting its status as a distinct and evolutionary significant member of its taxonomic group.
It is our responsibility to take action to conserve and protect wood turtles and their habitats for future generations. This preserved land is one area.
As for the Letterbox/Hybrid, this is very simple and straightforward one, especially compared to the challenging almost impossible letterbox/hybrid across the road.
Park at parking (duh). Take note of the kiosk with maps and info across the road.
Starting at posted coords proceed northeast on the red trail along the Plum creek following the red makers.
Follow the trail markers as they turn uphill, then continue following along the trail that runs parallel to the Plum creek below to your left. The trail crosses a small and passable ravine . Continue on following the red trail markers.
THEN you will come to a second "depression" but this a vast steep abyss. No red trail markers are visible from here across this vast steep canyon, know locally as Kristen’s GPS Chasm. Should you drop something here, just let it go, it’s gone, there is no retrieval. Do not attempt to cross, not even Evel Knievel could jump this. (the zip line is down and the bridge is still in planning stage, )
Head uphill through easy open woods, keeping a safe distance of about 25 feet from the canyon? Gorge? Rift? on your left. Proceed uphill until you come to a fallen American silver beech near a standing silver beech Thence you shall find with just a tiny amount of geo/letterboxing sense a small container with log book and stamp.
Log and return for the next person who surely will follow within a decade. But spread the word to help preserve habitat and you may save ol' red legs.
Return to the trail taking care not to stumble into the darkness of chasm and navigate your return, before the sun sets.
There was a letterbox/hybrid easy and fun and rewarding
